Accommodation in Queensland’s Historic Gold District

Just 43km south of Charters Towers and 100km from Townsville, Top Camp is conveniently located for travellers heading west or seeking a peaceful escape.

Perched at the gateway to Ravenswood – a gold rush township established in 1868 – Top Camp is located on the Burdekin Falls Dam road just before the turn-off into town. This location provides a serene, dust-free environment well away from active mining operations. Unlike the council campgrounds located at the oval, which are closer to the noise of the mine, our park is set amongst shady trees and picturesque scenery.

Interior view of a modest rural café and convenience store featuring a tiled floor, ceiling fans, and a long counter with food service equipment. On the right, Coca-Cola branded refrigerated display cases are stocked with soft drinks, water, and juice bottles. A freezer displaying Peters ice cream is positioned on the left. Behind the counter, a small shop area contains shelves and coolers with snacks and grocery items. Handwritten chalkboard menus and printed signs are mounted on the wall, contributing to a casual, local-store atmosphere.
